Learn How to Improve your posting for Social Media and your Google Business Profile.

Improving your social media for your business is about your Social Media Post Strategy.

We’re diving into how to improve social media for your business, and it is going to be a fun one.

We’re discussing organic strategies for Facebook, Linkedin, and Google Business Profile. They are the big platform players.

Creating a Posting Strategy What To Think About First

There are a few things to think about when creating a strategy:

  • Which platforms will work for you?
  • Where & who are your customers?

Why? Deciding on your platforms will help you focus. Knowing your client means you know where they are. If you know where they are, you’ll see where you want to be.

After you decide on the platforms, you want to see if there are matches. Which ones can you match together?

  1. LinkedIn and Facebook work well in conjunction because they are images/text and hashtags. Plus, you can do link posts that help you show that you know what you’re talking about (you become the authority in your niche).
  2. Google Business Profile and Instagram work well together. You can’t share extra link articles on these platforms.
  3. If you leave out the content curation, Google Business Profile (GBP) can work well with Facebook and LinkedIn.
  4. I leave out Twitter because we don’t use it, but if it works for you, use it. You can share your article; it is always good to use it if your target audience spends time there. I definitely should be using it more.

Measureing Your Posting Strategy

You’ve got to look back and see if things are working. I mean, why do this stuff if it doesn’t get results?
We’ve noticed that over the months and years, posts get more and more views.

Google used to say the posts only lasted seven days. I think they dumped that idea.

Try posting using the different options. Think of posting a little ad about what is going on for your business. You’re keeping your customers up to date and feeding the beast. The GBeast loves fresh information.

Social Media & Google Business Profil Posting Strategy KPIs

KPIs, are your key performance indicators. You need to figure out your is what you need to figure out. And no, it is not an exact science but here are some tips.

Ask yourself:

Are you interested in

  1. views, likes or new followers (we often call these vanity metrics)?
  2. Will you be measuring comments, reactions, and shares, or maybe it’s
  3. Actual leads (phone calls or forms filled out)?

Knowing what you’re going to measure is key to improving what you are doing. Measurement is a necessity, especially when it comes to digital marketing.

If you don’t measure, you don’t know if you’re wasting your time.

Facebook, for instance, has its analytics. You could probably put a plan together of what you’ll measure from looking at the reports you can generate.

We do a ‘Keep the lights on strategy’ for many businesses. All this means is we create a small presence on various channels/social media platforms, like Facebook or Google Business Profile, by posting weekly.

We are measuring our posts on their channels and in Google Analytics to see if it is helping drive traffic to the websites. And which posts drive engagement or whatever KPIs we’re tracking.

We have an in-depth strategy where we use a Facebook Group and various other channels combined with a posting strategy, content curation, live video, etc on different channels. But enough about us.

Types of Marketing Posts

Remember that each platform is different, so you want to consider what you are trying to achieve. Also, look into works and what your competitors are doing. It is not about how many people follow you.

It is about who those people are, where they are, and how you want to interact with your customers.

  • Value posts – Images and text with a call to action (no selling, just value)
  • Content curation (shared content, showing your knowledge)
  • Poll (using images and pick a or b)
  • Question Posts – Use questions that drive responses.
  • Video posts
  • Live Video posts
  • Behind the scenes (These work well)
  • How to posts (these are amazing)

Another thing to consider is whether you want to have some action after the post. You want to think about trying to create a discussion. With an action outcome in mind, that two-way interaction will build that know-like and trust factor.

After the Marketing Post

What’s your strategy after you post something? I mean, what happens after you post? You need to monitor. Your marketing agency or you need to act like a hallway monitor.

It would help if you also had a communication Strategy. A communication strategy is the next most important aspect of a posting strategy on social media.

Most social platforms are not just about broadcasting content.

Most social platforms are not just about broadcasting content.

Who answers comments or messages on the page?

Knowing who is checking the posts and responding if there are comments is something to consider if you dive into improving your social media.

Your effort is directly related to what you get out of it. For small business owners, it is wise to have an agency or marketing person help them, but you also need to be there.

The marketing person is to help you and organize you. You are the face of your company, and people want to know about you. People want to see the owner(s). They want to interact with the people inside the company.

Social Media & Google Business Profile Posting Routine

Lastly, one of the best things you can do is create a routine for yourself. When will you post? For us, it is not the time of day that matters.

We post several times a week on each platform, and we post different things in different places. Of course, there is some overlap.

We also ensure we are there in the accounts to help drive that engagement, as that is the best way to grow on social media.

Now I know it is hard to be everywhere. Don’t do it if it isn’t easy. Pick one or two channels and focus there. The rest will come in time.

Let me ask you, Do you have a social media posting strategy? I’d love to know.
